Synology cũng đã chính thức phát hành package Virtual Machine Manager . Đây là phần mềm ảo hóa mới cung cấp khả năng cài đặt và hoạt động nhiều máy ảo bao gồm Windows, Linux, VirtualDSM trên thiết bị Synology NAS.Phần mềm cũng cung cấp người dùng tính năng sao lưu VMs thông qua btrfs. ví dụ như khả năng hoàn tất snapshots một máy ảo và replication in vài giây. Virtual Machine Manager có thể hoạt động trên thiết bị NAS mới FS1018.

Cả hai thiết bị NAS mới trên đều được thiết kế hoạt động tối ưu nhất với Diskstation Manager (DSM). DSM có thể chạy nhiều các máy ảo trên Virtual Machine Manager thông qua Virtual DSM. bằng cách đó người dùng có thể thực hiện nhiều NAS với từng mục đích sử dụng trên từng máy ảo, dễ dàng quản lý và cũng là giải pháp hỗ trợ việc cho thuê máy chủ.
